How to produce music with NI Maschine Mk3

Why take this course?

NI’s latest Maschine controller has elevated the device to whole new levels, transforming it into one of the most incredible platforms for making music. Whether producing or performing, the powerful hardware/software combo provides all the tools you need to create original beats or complete arrangements with ease. On this comprehensive course by certified trainer Rob Jones, you’ll learn every aspect of both the MK3 controller and Maschine software, as well as learn a multitude of techniques for creating many different styles of music with them.

The tutorials begin with a detailed look at how to make patterns with the pads, working in the default pad mode as well as keyboard, chord and 16- velocity modes, explaining the various benefits of each one. Rob then teaches the ins and outs of soundslots in Maschine, by building a kit from scratch, before getting more advanced with Maschine’s Sampler, showing how to record and edit your own samples, slice up loops and lots more.

There is also a thorough exploration of Maschine’s instruments and effects, with lessons on both Drum and Bass Synths, as well as the entire range of built-in effects. Additionally, the course includes tutorials covering more advanced signal routing and effects usage, teaching how to modulate parameters and set up send effects, and also how to use Maschine within DAWs like Ableton Live and Logic Pro.

Signing up to the course provides immediate access to over 4 hours of tutorials, written notes, Maschine projects and 250MB of bonus samples. Before signing up, check out the free sample modules for an example of the tutorial content, which will have you mastering NI’s legendary music-making tool in no time!

Great tutorial! I definitely learned new functions in Maschine that I had not seen as well as refreshed some that I had forgotten. As Maschine matures, I would hope that this course would be updated to incorporate new features as well.

I don't know if I have the same firmware version or what... but there is a TON of content that isn't even CLOSE (in reality) to what the instructor is talking about. Button layouts are different. Screens are different. Certain things don't exist. It is extremely frustrating to watch a 6-10 minute video and then spend over an hour trying to recreate what he's done because the screen on my Maschine Mk3 doesn't match his. The instructor touches a lot of buttons on the hardware that he doesn't explain what he's doing. It's hard to follow along with the video due to its split screen. The quality/resolution of the video of the hardware unit isn't that great. It's hard to read some of the buttons and screens. So far, this is a a waste of my time.

Great course, but it seems like the instructor is unavailable to answer any questions. I am learning a lot from the lessons! I do recommend this course!

too fast to follow. When I replicate the actions on screen my setup doesn't often behave the same way.. Terms are not explained, It's assumed the student knows what terms mean..

The intro was about the machine. I would guess that most people purchasing this machine would have the knowledge of what it can be used for. Was a bit pointless to me

I wouldn't recommend this for new Maschine users. If you're trying to get up and running fast, this course is not for you. While there's some good stuff in this course, the wandering syllabus style is off putting. There's much, much missing from this, in my opinion. Beginning with diving right into sequencing, without first doing a respectable overview of all the various Maschine components is a bad choice. A single section on DAW integration... also a poor choice. The instructor clearly knows the platform, but also has to assume that the viewer already has a solid grounding in the basics of Maschine, and I doubt that's typically going to be true.

Finally understand the Maschine Mk3. Bought it, fiddled around forever (on and off for over 2 years), almost sold it as it was totally foreign to my way of working. Now it's all good. Thanks!

The course continues to deliver well beyond my expectations. Clear, concise, with just the right depth and breadth to ensure confidence and competence with the Maschine controller.

It is out of date. The steps the instructor takes do not align to what happens in the real world based on software updates. Makes it virtually impossible to follow along. Way too distracting for my learning style.

It is definitely fast paced, no argument there! But, personally speaking, I'm not bothered about having to go over sections multiple times until things start making sense. If anything, he proves that Maschine 2.0 is a software that has matured and can manage many aspects of song creation without ever needing a DAW. I had numerous a-ha! moments throughout that make this course invaluable as a learning tool and totally worth the expense.

This is not a complete guide. Jeez. I have no idea what the hell this guy is talking about. I don't even know how to turn the thing on and he's going WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY too fast. Terrible. Very disappointed. A COMPLETE guide? Well, it's NOT COMPLETE. How do you load sounds? I don't know, this COMPLETE guide didn't tell me.

It was a great match. If I can learn how to easily move through maschine like the instructor I'll be a proud customer.

I am brand new to creating beats with this product but it’s something I am very passionate about so I want to be knowledgeable. So far this seems to be a very thorough and in depth course breaking everything down to understand and digest easily. I strongly feel by the end of this I will be able to navigate successfully on my own.

Well, I'm sure Rob has a lot of knowledge, but he goes really too fast on everything, but the worst part is that this is not teaching! I would expect to open projects and go along with him but very quickly, you're completely lost. He's not starting for 0 to build with you a track and show you things along the way and have you do them also. After a certain module, you're completely lost, no idea what project he is using, how he got there and I completely gave up on following anything, I continued to watch it, without turning on my maschine, but overall, it's a waste of time and money! This is a long demo of stuff you can do in maschine but not a course! Maybe someone who knows it will be able to follow, but I am not! I bought this course to learn to use it. And I'm not just talking about the awful intro, where he dashes thru everything making you want to break your computer and immediately ask for a refund! I held on and watched nearly 90% of it all. It doesn't get better!
