Why take this course?

Welcome to the second installment of the Complete Game Development Series, Project Infinite Runner! Throughout this course, we will delve into the fundamentals of Unity, the widely utilized game engine, as we construct a fully developed infinite-runner game.

Our journey begins with an exploration of the core aspects of the Unity editor, encompassing basic manipulation of objects, game objects and their components, the game loop, and asset importing. As the game takes shape, we will progressively explore advanced concepts such as the new input system, physics, animation controllers, prefabs, shader graphs, audio, and more.

This tutorial emphasizes thoroughness. No steps will be omitted, and we will refrain from relying on third-party code or plugins. Every element, including the player controller, world generation, shader graph, player profile, and leaderboard system, will be implemented from the ground up. Our goal is to maintain clean and extensible code throughout the entire process.

Beyond Unity, we will briefly touch on basic modeling using Blender to provide insights into other facets of the game development workflow.

Upon completing the tutorial, you will possess a robust understanding of Unity and game development, coupled with a comprehensive infinite runner project. This knowledge will empower you to tackle more advanced projects and progress through the series seamlessly. Brace yourself for a thorough, enlightening, and continuous game development journey!

This is one of the best Unity courses I have done. Jingtian explains a lot of things away from the actual programming, which is interesting and helpful and builds a good understanding of what you are doing. You can tell he really is a Unity professional and knows what he is doing. The content is entertaining and in addition to the learning effect, there is a good result. Only the chapter "Leaderboard" seems to me to be unnecessarily complicated and partly lacks a common thread. But still: a definite recommendation.

Thanks Jingtian for the excellent and thorough course! I really enjoyed it and there is a wealth of information here. I really appreciate you taking the time on the more nuanced pieces of the full game creation cycle. It's definitely helping me develop a workflow that I will (eventually) use in my own game creations. Thanks again, excellent job. Looking forward to Course 3.

Some videos may need revisiting as not all naming conventions are the same throughout which may throw off some beginners, overall a really good course learnt a lot

Clearly The Trainer has Training Experience as the delivery of the content is very professional and content itself is very clean. Ideally it would have been helpful for comparison (especially as it is easy to make typos) if the Trainer would have supplied the respective code either as a script or use some reference website where he places the scripts for trainees to use to compare their work. I have another of his courses pending to go through an I look forward to that one as that at first glance seems more involving I hope he will consider providing compare scripts for that as that one definitely looks more involving. So far one can ask for better as the trainer is very professional in his delivery.

Ignores a lot of programming foundations. Inconsistent variable naming styles. Changing things between videos such as layer names. Overall seems like rushed content. Will update rating if I feel differently at the end. If you're going to charge for 3 separate courses, I expect you to put in the proper effort in all. Quality way down compared to the first course. Easy to tell though, didn't even take effort to setup the content into chapters. Makes me think the first part of the series may have been copied from somewhere.
