Easy to understand. The visuals were great at assisting with the learning process. Kain speaks in a way that doesn't necessarily dumb things down but simplifies things that could come off as very clinical. I enjoyed the learning process.

This is the second course by Kain Ramsey that I have completed during the last few months. He is a good instructor with some background in counseling and shares a lot of insights from his personal experience. There are a number of similarities between this course and the one titled “Building Inner Resilience,” such as the importance of maturity, taking responsibility for one’s life, and adopting a growth mindset. Kain talks about the different cognitive distortions that people fall into, such as catastrophizing, black-and-white thinking, and mindreading. He goes into some fundamentals of psychology, as the Freudian concepts of id, ego, and superego. Although he doesn’t specifically name it as such, he discusses the four areas of Emotional Intelligence; namely, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. I took this course as I’m into mindfulness, self-improvement, and positive psychology, and I consider myself as grounded and stable. While I agree with most of the concepts behind Kain’s teachings, I don’t concur with his stance on psychiatry and his dismissal of mental disorders as merely resulting from a lack of self-awareness and self-discipline. Try telling that to the millions of people who suffer from schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress, phobias, personality disorders, and countless other conditions. It’s been known that depression and anxiety can be attributed to a certain chemical imbalance in the brain. Kain is an expert on applied psychology but states he has no expertise on the biology of the central nervous system. In one of his lectures, he contrasts being motivated by growth vs. being motivated by happiness. Everyone knows this is a false dichotomy. You can grow as a person AND be happy at the same time. He almost makes it sound as if there’s something wrong with being happy, which is what most people want in life. Also, as the saying goes, happiness is a choice. And part of being human is to experience a wide range of emotions – joy, sadness, anger, fear, among others. It matters how we self-regulate and how we manage our emotions. We are imperfect beings, and there’s always room for improvement. We can be happy and content with our lives and be at peace with ourselves while making positive contributions to the world. I find many of the self-evaluation questions and exercises helpful in promoting personal development. Overall, it was a good course.

I really enjoyed Kain´s unusual teaching style - it kept me engaged and entertained. I do however understand that some of his jokes and remarks can be too hard to digest for some other people. The course gave me many useful ideas and questions to think about and definitely provided a basic overview and understanding of what the CBT is about. I think that in the future I will follow up with one of his other courses. Thank you.

very informative and the trainer tries to engage the learners in a humorous way through theories and frameworks. I enjoyed the authenticity of the trainer and the concepts are really useful and practical. I feel that some of the lessons could be more concise instead of going through all the examples. The idea is for learner to grasp it and then continue to learn. By spending too much time on a single point, it could lead to learning fatigue. 10-15 mins video would be more effective for learning in my opinion.

The course was informative, but the presentation was monotonous. If different people and different methods of presenting were used, the course would be more engaging.

Not so sure anymore. Certain things have been a turn off right from the beginning. Certain comments made by tutor felt ignorant and presumptuous. Dissing a whole industry of psychiatry, saying that family as an institution should be the main principle in the modern world? What if someone feels the other way? I also signed up for Kain's group on Facebook and one of the rules said that one cannot express an opinion contradicting Kain's teaching?! What kind of dictatorship is this?

It's great so far -- I'm looking for more on HOW to make that shift to becoming more self-aware and growth-oriented -- so far there are only classifications presented. I would like to see some practically-oriented tips!

Definitely a good match! However Mr. Kain sometime goes hard when relating to spirituality i.e. beliefs in religion which can/may show his biases but because I'm open-minded I can still see his point of view. Additionally, as a believer in God, I may may have biases as well. Great thing is when beliefs doesn't' cause distortion for for then more power to you in this regard vs. discouraging this particular belief. He's great! However, a sticky point for me was religious beliefs---he goes hard relieving what appears to be his non-belief in this regard...facts (science) vs spiritual belief
