The course throws quite a bit of information your way in an easy way. The only addition that I can think of it actual coding lessons, making the person work on little problems. For instance, if importing data from a file, to add a few videos that takes a simple input file, say maybe a few records with maybe 30 character width limit. Then assign dates to break up, as well as possibly a program-id. And just do relevant work based on the topics covered in that lesson. Overall, I enjoyed the course despite this.

I have just finished this course and I’ll say it is a VFM course! I am a COBOL/mainframe developer for a banking institute for over 5 years thus I was reluctant to buy this course but boy, was I wrong. After the first 3-4 sections where the instructor briefly introduces COBOL and mainframe, and we set up our environment to write code, the course starts to get really interesting. Even though I use Cobol as my daily driver, I have learned a great deal regarding Web Services, and file sorting and management which I have used again and again without really understanding how things operate under the hood. I would recommend this course to a novice programmer or an experienced developer as it covers the full spectrum of COBOL from variables to web services and error handling. One of the things that stood out from me was the cornerstone project at the end of the course and the COBOL interview questions, many of which have popped up in various interviews/deliverables I have seen throughout the years. Last but not least, this is the closest I have ever seen to providing a holistic-full stack approach to mainframe development and COBOL in general. I have read again and again IBM official documents on many subjects and the author explains them in minutes! Worth it, give it a try!

The course was an excellent experience! The instructor gave precise explanations of concepts, making the course easy to follow. The class was well-structured and easy to understand, with each lesson building on the last. The course covers a wide range of essential topics, including the COBOL web service interface, COBOL file handling, COBOL exception handling, end-to-end program designing, and the compilation process. These areas are particularly emphasized, providing in-depth knowledge and practical skills. These topics are covered in-depth, offering valuable insights and practical skills for real-world application. It's a great opportunity to master these essential aspects of COBOL programming. I found the instructor to be very knowledgeable and articulate, and the examples used throughout the course were relevant and helpful. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn COBOL programming.
