This course is an excellent introduction to the essential chess tactics. It gives clear, no-nonsense explanation of the tactic followed by comprehensive drills. I am a late beginner player and I learned a LOT from this course.

Chess tactics 101 Good material and visual presentation. BUT: Speaker unprofessional behavior is a turn off. Appears in all videos with worn out T-shirt; yawning w/o covering mouth; sarcastic.. lacks repeat for the audience.

In the drills it should be more clear which side it is to move, instead of Brendan taking a moment to figure it out before he flips the board. But overall the course covers the basics of tactitcs very well, and some of the examples and exercises are really great.

The instructor doesn't waste any time going through the various tactics and revealing all the different ways of using them. He does a superb job and gives us plenty of examples, including downloadable worksheets. Very impressive!

I have very recently discovered Brendan and watched several of his videos and read his chess blog, "Chess and Cognac". I am a beginner and have studied chess for almost two years now. I have not seen anyone as clear and on the level to teach as Brendan. There are no wasted words or wasted time. Very precise and exactly what I need. HIs teaching is superb and this tactics review is pure GOLD.

I have gained some pretty good knowledge. If you are new to chess and you are interested in getting into it then i recommend this a lot. This is what i did, firstly i would just watch all the videos (ignoring the worksheets) so i have a basic idea of all techniques, then i went through it again this time doing the worksheets to really consolidate my knowledge. Instructor is very clear and detailed. It is presented very well too.
