Description

“I solve problems you don’t know you have, in ways you can’t understand” (I am a Business Analyst).

The role of the Business Analyst is much more complex than the people perceive it to be and sometimes it can be a challenge to understand all its facets.

In the Business Analysis Essentials we went over the theoretical concepts of Business Analysis. In this course, we are applying the concepts in a simulated project environment, looking at the tasks and deliverables that a Business Analyst has to produce during the life of a project.

Master the BA tasks and deliverables

  •  Estimating the project specific  tasks
  •  Understand the deliverables
  •  Apply the elicitation techniques
  •  Produce the business and process flows
  •  Face the project challenges
  •  Write effective and clear requirements
  •  Understand how to overcome the obstacles

Most of the Business Analysis courses are teaching the theoretical concepts but they don’t provide enough understanding of what the Business Analysts do on a daily basis during the project.

This course aims to overcome these shortcomings and walk you through a complete project from the Business Analyst’s point of view, starting with the project initiations, project planning, requirements elicitation, requirements communications, various traps that you may encounter on the way, all the way till you get your requirements signed off and you have to provide development and test support.

    Contents and Overview

This course contains over 40 lectures and more than 3 hours of contents. The course is designed for beginners to intermediate Business Analysts, but a bit of prior experience would help to understand better the project challenges. If you are new to the Business Analysis world, I recommend you take the Business Analysis Essentials course first in order to grasp the theoretical concepts, before seeing how they are being applied in practice.

While Business Analysis Essentials is not a pre requisite for this course, it would help you to cement the concepts taught there through a combination of theory (Business Analysis Essentials) and practice (Business Analysis Demonstrated).

By the end of this course, you will have a complete understanding of how to use the Business Analysis techniques, what challenges you will be facing during a project, what documents you need to deliver, how to get the business buy in to sign off the requirements, what type of communication challenges the project may present and how to overcome them.

Great course content so far. Very good refresher for me. I like the fact that each session was just a few minutes long. That makes it easier to go through the course. Well done!

As others have mentioned, the intros and outros in each section are distracting and painful to the ears. I sent a message to the instructor, hoping he would read the constructive feedback and edit the videos, but it doesn't seem like users' reviews matter. I was going to refer my course mates to this instructor, but these distracting sounds make this course irritating.

Yes, it was good for a waterfall methodology but I would love to see something made for Agile/scrum as well

The info is pretty good. The low rating is due to the stupid intro and outro animations he has on EVERY video. It's very annoying and way too long--about 30 secs for the intro and 25 sec for the outro. If he removed them, I would give this course 3.5 stars.

As a person with audio deficit, I truly appreciated the closed captioning in this course. It might be a simple project that is presented but it was very well thought and structured. I recommend it!

Great presentation of a simple idea, gave me a new perspective of what I need to do during a project.

I wish they would teach us such practical courses in school instead of just theory. Love this course, it is simple, easy to understand and shows you exactly what you have to do.

I can relate to this course based on my limited experience. I performed some of these tasks and I did hear about the other ones and wanted to learn a bit more about them.

Gradual introduction into Business Analysis universe. For someone who is totally new to the domain, this is an interesting course. It simply and clearly explained.

Reading another review, I was a bit reluctant as, yes, it's a very simple project, but the author does a good job explaining what are the BA tasks in a project and goes step by step over them, providing details of what the BA must do for every task. It's a good learning tool for those new to the role or those who want to get a refresher. I think anything more than this would be too much for beginners in the role, so I found the balance of learning and simplicity to be more than decent.

The total SDLC process is not covered. This is just a overall course. The instructor has taken shortcut to complete the course. The project which has been taken as an example is a very small project. But in real time scenario generally this doesn't happen. Usually the projects a BA handle are much more complicated than this. The sound effect which has been added in the beginning and end of the course are too noisy and irritating. The detailed UML portion is missing. No where it has been mentioned about a proposal. What if a BA will get a e-governance project? Because Government people usually ask for a proposal. Not happy with this course. Will not recommend at all.

Step by step explanation with good sample case and documents which also allow us to save them for free!

The content is good, but I do not like the inconsistency in the volume when the intro and credits music is played. The volume is really loud for both and I'm constantly adjusting the volume to protect my ears!

This is an original idea. If you want to get your feet wet without working on a project, this is a great starting point.
