Description

The whole of the Spanish language can be broken down into several different structures. If you take any sentence from any Spanish book or any utterance, you will see that it fits into one of these structures.

I remember one weekend, I was writing some lessons for the week ahead, when I suddenly realised this. I noticed that there are a certain number of structures in Spanish, and that every sentence follows one of these structures. I spent the rest of the weekend working out all the structures, and I wrote them all down.

Every structure you learn gives you the ability to say a huge amount. Some structures are used more than others, but all the structures together make up the whole Spanish language. Once you’ve learnt how a structure works, all you have to do is insert different words into the slots and you have a sentence.

This course introduces you to structure 1. I’ve limited each course to one structure so as not to overburden you. By looking at just one structure at a time, you can really get to grips with it and understand its usage. It will help to clarify the Spanish language and make it more like a reflex rather than something you have to think about as is it were a maths equation.

Each structure can also help to propel you to fluency; if you can manipulate the structures at high speed, you can start to say anything you want without having to thing about how to say it.

This course contains plenty of practice opportunities for you to revise what you’ve learnt and it also contains some hints and tips on how best to learn and memorise the structures and the vocabulary that goes with them. You’ll learn how to make questions out of structure 1, how to make statements and how to turn positive statements negative.

The Building Structures in Spanish series is set out using the same learning techniques as the 3 Minute Spanish courses. You can work through the course in three minute chunks, enabling anybody to learn Spanish, no matter how little time you have.

Kieran does a fantastic job of teaching the architecture of a language which I think is really helpful for the kind of person that likes to see the big picture when learning.

Builds on the initial Spanish courses in this series. If you know the words this is pretty simple so far. If not, you'll need to swat up on the other courses first.

I can barely hear what is being said even with the volume all the way up on both the course and my pc

Easy to understand method. I’m an early intermediate learner and struggle to form sentences on the fly. So this has been helpful to get started with conversing aloud.

Yes this was a good purchase,...as I continue to learn Spanish, I find repetition of material to be useful,...as well as new approaches to learning.

It was fine until I got to lesson 7 and the videos ceased to work. I don’t know whether that is a technical fault or a problem with my iPad but either way I have not been able to resolve it. This is putting me off buying the next course now.

I was a little disappointed as I had already learned everything in this course in the beginners parts 1-6

Another great course. Thanks Kieran. After going through, I'm able to built an almost unlimited number of simple sentences and questions, just depending on my knowledge of vocabulary. And for sure I'll give 'The Happy Linuist' a try.

Keiran makes learning a new language fun. I like how he breaks things down in to simple steps. The formula for sentence structure makes it easy to form simple sentences. I love the repetition because it helps me learn the new grammar in a hands-on way.

Whilst I like (in general) the instructors method for his courses, there are things missing for me. There are no pdf's and no written exercises. This course addresses how to make "I" and "you' sentences, but not we, they, or the other forms of "you" formal, informal, etc. The lectures appear to be on a plain, powerpoint presentation with no colour or images. I like more stimulation to learn. I won't buy other levels due to not enough content, and continued costs. Other instructors offer more. Still, the repetitive spoken exercises are very good. And if you just want to learn a bit of Spanish for e.g. holidays, fun, then this will probably be helpful.

Helpful way to understand basic Spanish and form sentences and questions. But must first have basic vocab and grammar structure to really use this lesson/structure method... I don't think for a total beginner. Also, not enough of a pause for the student to try to form the sentence. I need time and not enough of a lag was provided throughout.

It allows me to get the building blocks and mix them around to form different sentences without just learning thousands of nouns but not knowing how to use them. It makes learning words practical as you are taught how build the sentence with the words you already know
