What you will learn

Design and build your customized physical robot

Autonomous navigation using Robot Operating System

Create a map of your house using the lidar scanner of the robot

Command robot to go to any accessible location on the created map

Interact with the robot using a mobile app, joystick, keyboard, push-button, or remote computer

Monitor robot updates via LCD, mobile app, sound, and status LEDs

Automate delivery of small payload and return to home base

Why take this course?

There are many courses on ROS which provides good insights on theoretical aspects and building Robots in simulation. But, in this course, we will be discussing how to build a low cost ROS-powered autonomous robot at home from scratch. Step-by-step instructions will be given in detail on how to build the Autonomous Robot.

This course covers lessons on how to physically build a customized Robot including elements like Mechanical design, Electronic circuit assembly, software configuration, ROS navigation stack integration, Arduino integration, Software simulation, real-world navigation and a sample delivery application

By the end of this course, you will be able to achieve the following:

  • Design and build your customized physical robot with autonomous navigation capability

  • Create a map of your house using the lidar scanner of the robot

  • Command robot to go to any accessible location on the created map

  • Interact with the robot using a mobile app, joystick, keyboard, push-button, or remote computer

  • Monitor robot updates via LCD, mobile app, sound, and status LEDs

  • Automate delivery of small payload and return to home base

This course is for anyone interested in Robotics who wish to learn about autonomous navigation in robots and build a low-cost ROS Powered robot platform.

Everything you need to know about building this robot would be explained in this course. A basic understanding of python programming language, ROS basics, Arduino basics, and little bit of 3D printing knowledge would be handy.

Now let's start to build our Robot !

So far, not as bad as some of the reviews led me to believe, but could be better. I think he is doing a pretty good job of explaining the components of the navigation stack at a high level. Yet to be seen if the low-level explanations are just as useful. The actual quality could be better. This is pretty much a collection of slides with the narrator reading the slides. The diagrams are useful, and the information is informative, but it would be nice for more elaboration than just reading the slides. The audio is poor to mediocre. Still intelligible, but needs much improvement. So far I like the course. While this overlaps with what I do professionally, somewhat, and while I probably coulde have figured out some of the pieces myself, it is really eye-opening to see the entire thing presented as cohesive diagram.

Very disappointing so far. Unfortunately, the robot provided is missing pressure parts. the sections are more of a powerpoint presentation. Hardware is very special. I will redesign the robot according to my wishes and see how far this course still inspires me

The course is just to the point and full of learning resources in very short time. This kind of course is very effective. Just 2 suggestions: 1> Both motor control PWM signals, PID adjustment, wheel odometry could be done from 1 Arduino. 2> IMU implementation (mentioned as future work).

The author shows how to build a complete mobile robot. It's a nice design. I had one frustration while watching the videos: some were too quick. Pause comes in handy when you want to look at lists or diagrams. Overall, this course is a good overview for anyone planning to create ROS-based robots.

Like only a lecture slide, if the following would be better for me, 1.Give the slide 2.Detail video of the softwere opening and writing script. 3.HD resolution 4.We dont have that motor driver, then which can be alternative.
