This Python for Beginner course will get you up and running using Python for data analysis and visualization. You will learn how to download and access a Jupyter Notebook environment. You will have sample Python scripts and example data so that you will get a chance to practice manipulating GIS data. Additionally, you will get HD videos to guide you throughout the course.

The course assumes you have no prior knowledge of Python, so you also get to learn the basics of Python in the first two sections of the course. However, if you already know Python, the first two sections can serve as a refresher before you jump into the data analysis and visualization part. In the course, you will learn how to install conda and various libraries that are necessary for geospatial data analysis such as Basemap, Geopandas, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn. We will also use the popular open-source tool, the Jupyter Notebook.

You will learn how to integrate different spatial libraries within your Python code. We will walk you step by step to apply various Python packages to manipulate GIS data and visualize geospatial data to get better insights. I will provide you with all the data that I demonstrate in the course. By the end of this course, you will be able to download Jupyter Notebook, install conda, and perform various spatial analyses including manipulating, aggregating, and visualizing GIS datasets using Python.

I think the instructor probably knows the material well but the description says it is suitable for all levels and beginners. I have no experience with Python and Im good with computers but this course lost me very quickly in the third video. I will find a beginners python course online and return to this another day.

If this is a beginning class, needs a little more explanation of steps, so that no time is lost troubleshooting. Examples: working directory setup, put sample files here, run there, and now you have the place where the video started

I have learnt nothing from this course. This is not a course...this is nothing more than a collection of videos in which a demonstration is done. Nothing more.

Great class to get started using python for geospatial data analytics. Unfortunately, some of the packages have been updated since this course was published, so installing them will be quite difficult.

the course is very basic and explanation is not getting in details of explaining how to use the mapping features and lib related to maps, not sure what is the objective of the course and what is the course intended to teach, I would easily find similar. information on youtube or by the general search. thanks for the introduction

There were various multiline codes that contained various functions and were not explained. As this was an introductory course all the functions and their usage should have been explained in detail.

An overview of possibilities using python for geospatial data. The instructions for installing packages could have been clearer, but it was a good exposure of using Jupyter notebook to view scripts and lots of sample scripts with explanations of what they do, which I found very useful.

Not for people who don't know Python. Good only if your Use case is exactly the same as in the lecture which will not be the case for most of the Students.

This is exactly what the course suggests it is-- introduction to geospatial analysis. And it definitely delivers. What I appreciate most is the guidance in the installation of packages (namely geopandas, which does not always install correctly), and the variety of file types used.

I was expecting a more comprehensive course, but it turns out that this course is more introductory. It was successful however with helping me appreciate the use of python with geospatial data.
