You will learn the options to change the Routing in BGP

You will get strong understanding of BGP Table

Why take this course?

BGP Configuration is always a big task to do. This Course has made it very easy for students to understand the BGP Concepts. It has many labs which will eventually make you comfortable working with BGP.

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is considered a “Path Vector” routing protocol. It is an exterior gateway protocol (EGP) that is used to exchange routing information among routers in different autonomous systems. It is the only protocol which enables Internet to function. So it is very robust and scalable routing Protocol.

Once BGP peers form a neighbor relationship, they share their full routing table. Afterwards, only changes to the routing table are forwarded to peers.

BGP metric is BGP attributes. It has 3 tables, neighbor table, BGP table and Routing table. The AD (Administrative Distance) for eBGP routes is 20, iBGP is 200. It uses TCP-179. It's Peers use incremental and triggered updates(5 sec interval for IBGP and 30 sec interval for EBGP). It uses AS numbers to keep track of different administrative domains. 1-64511 are public, 64512-65535 are private autonomous numbers.

This course has many Labs which will make you very strong and comfortable in Implementing this protocol in your organization or at your home lab. You will get expertise on Attributes of BGP such as Weight, Local Preference, AS Path, MED , ORGIN and Communities. Since It runs the Internet, so we need a protocol which gives flexibility, that is why BGP is used. Only drawback is that It is extremely slow to converge.

Many more things like Route Reflectors, Confederation are also covered so that you get complete information about this BGP.

Here is the list of topics covered in it

1. Simple BGP Configuration
2. BGP with Non-Connected Neighbors
3. IBGP Vs EBGP
4. How to Read BGP Table
5. Advertising Subnet in BGP
6. Auto Summary in BGP
7. BGP Neighbor Adjacency States
8. BGP Messages
9. Troubleshooting BGP Neighborship
10. Troubleshooting BGP Network Advertisement
11. Weight Attribute
12. Local Preference
13. AS Prepend
14.Origin Code
15. MED (Multi Exit Descriminator)
16. BGP Communities
17. No-Advertise Community
18. No-Export Community
19. BGP prevent Transit AS using Filter List
20. BGP prevent Transit AS using No-Export Community
21. BGP prevent Transit AS using Prefix List
22. BGP prevent Transit AS using Distribute List
23. BGP Peer Group
23. BGP Route-Reflector
24. BGP Confederation

This will definitely be helpful for you. Any feedback- Let me know. I am always available for your help.

Very informative but a bit face paced. Requires rewinding back a few times during the lesson to catch the configurations being typed.

It could have been a great course, but looks like there are much of lazy concepts involved. I really don't understand how you are mixing a capital letter and small letter while typing commands, that makes it looks like you are trying to name a WORD , not included in cisco command. e.g Neighbor GROUP1 PEEr-gRoup, it would be difficult to understand if that's a regular cisco command or you naming a word. And there are lots of stuffs you inputting without prior explanation that you possible assume students should know. Review the no export community part, there are lots of time , you start with permit 10 , then go ahead and end with permit 20 , and next will be lets send the configuration to a neighbor , without explaining the reasons why you are using random numbers. well still a good course but you shouldn't be lazy with contents. Thanks

some chapiter needs more explanation, and you need to specify the the running config of the routers before starting the configuration of BGP. thank you ashish

Hi Overall good labs and explanation but few topics are pending. If you can add those it will be great 1) Regular Expressions & their Examples 2) load balancing 3) with default routing 4) Backdoor Routes 5) Remove Private AS 6) Next Hop Address Tracking

The Instructor does an excellent job explaining the material where I can follow and understand the material.

I give 5 stars because the whole course was well organized, divided into small chapters and easy to follow. The different topologies presented helped to have different scenarios and understand the need behind each one. I missed topics about MP-BGP but, I thing this would be part of another topic related e.g. with MPLS.

Amazing attention to detail. Highly recommend following this chap with your own gns3 lab, am using router image 3725 and really appreciate this course. Nice work buddy.

Great course except difficult to understand what instructor is saying unless you slower video speed otherwise great instruction. One thing I wish is he would use the same topology for some of the labs given only the BGP configuration needed to change. i.e = the no-export and no-adverstise labs

Very Good explanation. Very good teaching methods using LAB. If you provide theory doc also it would be more beneficial for us.

Asish is a very good tutor. I wish he can be loud enough because i most times have difficulties with his pronounciations of some words..

It says "advanced" and I expected advanced topics such as MP-BGP, and various advanced options like exist-map, advertise-map. When you bring up a topic be as complete as you can. Explaining precedence of filter-map, route-maps, distribute-lists, and the like would be helpful. It would also be useful to move away from old images and use what is currently out in the world with proper address families. On the brighter side, the instructor seems he knows the topic, I just don't think this is advanced at all.

Interesting course, but very random assignment of addresses and illegible handwriting. It could do with a little more order and showing the final configuration that is correct
