Description

According to the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), fast-growing fields such as healthcare and social services require administrative roles to support their growth. If you are highly organized and efficient, this may be the job for you.

Medical secretaries receive patients, assist them with filling out forms, maintain and retrieve medical files, and transcribe and type medical reports. Generally, they organize the huge amounts of data that the office generates every day.

A medical secretary's job is mainly office oriented. Medical secretaries often spend a good part of their workday in the front office area where there is a lot of interaction with patients and other members of the public. Work hours are mostly the standard nine to five excluding weekends, and one may opt for a part-time job.

  • A medical secretary should have good knowledge of computer applications, spreadsheets, and medical software. This knowledge enables them to perform duties like updating patient information, scheduling appointments and managing the physician's schedule.

  • They should also have good verbal and written communication skills in order for them to be able to write and prepare reports, talk with patients (both in person and by telephone), and transcribe and type medical reports.

Are you interested in pursuing this career path and want to know what are the daily duties of a Medical Secretary?

The demand for Medical Secretaries is high, ensuring that there are plenty of jobs available for people who are interested in becoming a Medical Secretary.

Remember, medical Secretaries take on some of the workload of doctors and other healthcare practitioners, making them a valuable asset in this field.

It was a good overview of what is expected of this profession. The mispronunciation of many words was very distracting.

Recently employed as a medical receptionist in an outpatient clinic, and hope this video will give me quick overview of what the role does and its challenge. The video has many mispronunciation of the medical terminology. Please correct it. Thank You.

I noticed there were quite a few mispronunciations and typing errors. For this type of course especially, it would be important to relay to the students, the correct and precise pronunciations. Otherwise, this course is informative and provides another side of 'Front of House' operations that may otherwise may not be known to someone currently in that role. Thank you.

Waste of money, its more of an overview of the things you need to learn, verses actually teaching you those things. Also, it seems like the "teacher" is just an AI voice and many words aren't pronounced correctly.

It was pretty easy to understand for me as i've already worked in customer service desk of a retail store. It also made me realize how much more important the interactions is when its in the medical field.

It was a good experience overall. I wish there were more visuals, materials and the voice didn't sound that robotic :)

The course is very short and not substantial. You can learn more about the topic from Youtube than this course. I do not recommend. It's not worth your money! Maybe I should get a refund.

I thought I would learn something new in depth. The information was just an overview. It is simple and easy to understand though.

It clarifies the basis of scheduling when hired for the reception job and asked to be the scheduler.

This was very helpful to me! I'm starting a new Office Manager job for a single practitioner. I will be doing most of these steps. It is very much like what I expected it to be! Thank you!

I'm not really learning anything I don't know. I thought it would be more "hands" on training rather than videos that I could just watch online.
