The instructor has experience using ArcGIS software, but struggles to effectively present that knowledge. In early sections the dialogue consists of reading directly from slides and menu options or tooltips, with little additional information. The demos used are difficult to follow because the videos often include step taken off camera, and the instructor doesn't provide the necessary files to get to the starting point. Instructions on how to find data on sites like census.gov are out of date. In some videos the instructor mentions reference documents, but these are not provided in that specific lesson. Instead, in the final video there is a page of links, usually only leading to a website homepage. The instructor's use of "um" and pauses is distracting. The instructor frequently makes a mistake or gives misinformation, which creates confusion until it is corrected later and is an inefficient use of students' time. Some videos have recording issues where audio is jumpy and unintelligible and video lags behind. In one video there is a pause that lasts longer than 2 minutes while ArcToolbox is loading. The instructor attempts to jump ahead in instruction to fill the time, and he accidentally displays a window for an account unrelated to the course containing personal information. No attempt is made to edit out these mistakes or re-record the video. In later videos the instructor makes cuts in the live recording, but other forms of editing are still needed.
