What you will learn

Experience solving many of codility's coding interview puzzles, with problem descriptions, hints and solutions

Learn common problem solving tips ideal for coding interviews

Have a greater chance of passing the coding interview with codility, hackerrank and others

Have a better chance of doing well in a face to face or phone coding interview

Description

This course has been designed to help you pass your next coding interview. It focuses on puzzles from Codility's training lessons, so if you have an online coding test coming up, this course is perfect for you.

The key to passing coding interviews is to practice as much as possible by solving various types of coding puzzles. In doing so you sharpen your problem solving skills and eventually you will start to see patterns amongst the different coding solutions. You also increase your chances of being asked a problem you’ve already solved.

In this course you’ll get to practice many of these coding puzzles. In every section we introduce the topic, explain the problem and later provide you with a few hints that help solve the puzzle. In the end we arrive at the solution together.

Along the way you'll learn how to ride a motorbike, surf, scuba dive and fly an aeroplane. *

Join me on this course, and let’s get you to pass this interview!

*Not really, however this course is pretty fun regardless.

The formatting of this course is done really well. The instructor introduces an algorithm or problem type, then walks through the fundamentals. He then presents the actual problem, provides 1 or 2 hints then walks through the solution as well shows the code in Ruby for the solution. I just wish there was even more here, even though there is already a solid amount of content, because he is really good at explaining these problems.

So far all the info can be easily found on the internet (example straight on the codility website) I am familiar with all the problems presented in the course so far. It's not advanced enough (although IMO it was presented initially as being advanced)

I'm a total newb so it wasn't super clear since I didn't do the Engineering career and haven't learned any of the multiple principles that are mentioned in the video. I did look up at Complexity Theory but the others I'm not so certain on what they are or how I can learn about.

Even if you are not preparing for an interview, buy this course! James is an awesome teacher and makes these challenges very fun!

It becomes my favorite thing to start the morning watching this course really) Very nice explanations. No rush. I would even rate it like 5. Ideally, I just would see "all test tasks" from Codility just to be extra sure I can cover "everything" :) (but I hope it is not required). I understand it already has a lot and it should help to train my brain to see patterns and to be able to find correct approaches. And overall this course is a really nice journey instead of a pain which was like this in the past. So I'm not just learning but I want to learn more and more.

Great course! Love how well he is breaking things down and making them better and smaller/easier to digest

Great course! The instructor knows his stuff and knows how to explain it. I love the pace with which he takes the student from problem to solution. I can do without the gratuitous introduction to every lesson where the instructor appears to be doing something fun outdoors and totally unrelated to the course. Those just became a little annoying after the second or third, but they don't really affect the content.

I've been eliminated as a candidate 3 times due to computational complexity interview questions. Since this course starts with that, I think it will be excellent for helping my changes in the future. Update: I'm about half-way through the course and feel like I'm getting a computer science degree. This is an excellent course.

It's great! From there, I would have appreciated some links to advanced notions on Complexity, solving pattern (greedy, divide and conquer...). May be a sequel of this? Cheers, Patrice

I bought this course because I have a coding interview very soon and I wanted to feel better prepared. The course helped me to achieve this and I found it to be both entertaining and challenging at the same time. It definitely improved my problem-solving skills and I really enjoyed it! Highly recommended.
