What you will learn

Pass the Microsoft AZ-500 Microsoft Security Technologies test

Earn the Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate certification

Better understand all of the features and functions of Azure Active Directory

Better understand how Azure works with your on-premises network for single-sign on.

Why take this course?

Application and data security is one of the biggest challenges most companies face. If you become proficient in Microsoft Azure security controls, this is a skill that will help you in your career. Whether you are the company security expert, or you are in operations, development, or administration, understanding Microsoft Azure's security options is a powerful tool to have in your toolbox.

This course helps you study for and pass the AZ-500 exam, Microsoft Azure Security Technologies. Passing this exam qualifies you for the certification Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate. You can proudly show this certification on your resume or LinkedIn profile or mention it during job interviews. It means that you have successfully demonstrated your skills in Azure Security.

In this course, I go through the requirements of the AZ-500 exam from start to finish. We cover the following areas:

  • Manage identity and access (30-35%)

  • Implement platform protection (15-20%)

  • Manage security operations (25-30%)

  • Secure data and applications (25-30%)

Course includes a free practice test.

Responsibilities for an Azure security engineer include managing the security posture, identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, performing threat modeling, implementing threat protection, and responding to security incident escalations.

Azure security engineers often serve as part of a larger team to plan and implement cloud-based management and security.

Presenter is switching between different types of Azure subscriptions which might not be available to all students. Hence, not able to follow in parallel as a hands on training. Content is little bit outdated as some Azure options, GUI and service names have changed over the last 2-3 years.

I am new to Azure security, some information in setting up the free Azure account was no congruent with the actual website, so it took my a little while to sort through what I had to actually do.

lecture videos seem to be outdated as Azzure has updated a lot and it was difficult me to locate & understand concept of Active Directory as it has been renamed as Entra ID and there were a few more changes as well.

Its to the point lectures and it does teach how to use the Azure services, however its not very beginner friendly as it does not teach you why you would use these services. Don't think this course is a "all-levels" course

Excellent teaching style, in-depth content and well planned course overall. Would recommend to anyone looking to understand Azure Security and/ or prepare for the AZ-500 exam.

I have gone through the Microsoft documentation as well. I think that this course is really good if you want to see some of the services in action, but it's a bit high level w.r.t. the details that are on the course itself, so it needs to be integrated with additional material in order to pass the exam of the 1st attempt (again, my opinion only!)

There is much to be covered for sure. The labs can be a bit confusing but I got through them. The test asked many questions that I feel the topics were not enforced in the class. Or maybe I was not paying attention. Overall, a good class to take I feel.

Quality content. Very well explained. Narration is the best I was able to find, no strange accents. This allows me to stay focused for a long time.

Enjoying it so far. The only downside is that some of the parts you need to explore are behind a subscription, which whilst learning, I obviously don't have. So the elements where we're able to follow along in a practical sense by setting it up, it's a shame that with some of it, I can only watch and listen. Which in a learning format, for myself at least, isn't all that appealing.

This course as usually from this instructor was so helpful. A lot of demo with the practise and a lot the hand on lab exercise from GitHub. I completly recommand this training for the rythm, the explanations .... Best regards.

I've used Scott's lessons and trainings to pass the Az-104 and can't wait to pass my security exam next! Scott breaks things down very clearly and makes studying incredibly simple.

This course can be useful in preparing for the MSFT certification, but the lessons and MSFT github labs aren't much more than walkthroughs. Example: for the MFA, Conditional Access and AAD Identity Protection labs, I would recommend clicking the "Learn More" links in the Azure portal for every step. Azure AD security is so complex and has such a myriad of options, that it's not possible, in my opinion, to fully understand how it all works together without a larger explanation of the different scenarios that one would come across in a real world environment. I would definitely recommend additional study materials for context. This course by itself may teach you what to select and click and configure, and you may pass the exam, but it's not going to prepare you for a production environment. I don't mean this as a criticism of the course or instructor; but there is a lot more to grok about AAD security if you want to be knowledgeable about what you are doing. I would have liked to see more context and scenario-based examples for why you would do any of the things being taught. So it's good as far as it goes, but you'll need more to be useful in a actual job. Certs don't make the man (or woman). I would also recommend that you drill on the hands on labs. Do them until you thoroughly understand them. Once through is not going to be enough. You'll need to reinforce these lessons.

Didn't really go into what service principal actually does other than it's "user managed" and granular? Would have like some more detail into what that actually means

indeed for a course that provides in-depth coverage of the local area networks structures and the cloud.

There was no practice test. Overall I thought that the course failed to cover the syllabus in detail, the SAAS examples were poor, albeit that the course is relatively demanding.
