Description

***BRAND NEW COURSE OVERHAUL for 2020***

This is an introduction to anatomy and figure drawing. Drawing anatomy for some is an elusive unicorn that can seem impossible to catch. Books can be confusing and even cryptic. I have the same books that you have and they really didn’t help me improve. Not being able to create can be a crippling experience for an artist. We can trick ourselves into thinking we don’t need to draw the figure and can just “get by” through clip art or tracing. The truth is that is simply not good enough. It’s time to finally slay that figure drawing dragon.

The skills you acquire here will enhance not only your own work but give you a solid base to in any other online course or book. There is no "Quick fix" or "shortcuts" to making great art. It requires work. It's fun work and I'm going to show you a method that will make creating your own human figures for games and comics or a client’s work "pain free".

The skills you will learn will apply to things like character design and turnarounds for games and creating action for comics. It can translate to illustration and digital painting and can even give you a jumpstart to 3D. There are limitless possibilities once you learn anatomy and figure drawing. The only limits are the ones you set for yourself.

  • ·         You will learn how to draw anatomy without relying on reference

  • ·         You will be able to think like an artist and be a problem solver

  • ·         This is for those that are serious about improving art

  • ·         Keep an open mind and there is no time limit, work at your own pace.

  • ·         You will learn the muscles of the figure

  • ·         You will learn how to pose the figure

  • ·         You will learn to create variety and develop your own style

  • ·         You will no longer need to “search for a pose” or look at another artist's work.

Who this course is for:

  • ·         Any beginner who wants to learn how to draw

  • ·         Art students (traditional and nontraditional and self-taught)

  • ·         Traditional artists who want to learn anatomy and figure drawing

  • ·         Graphic designers who want to learn to draw anatomy to get more clients and more work

  • ·         Anyone who wants to make their own game, graphic novel or illustrations

What this course is Not

  • ·         Not a "Speed Painting" course

  • ·         Not a series of "Shortcuts"

  • ·         Not a "Watch me draw" type of course

  • ·         Not a "magic wand" for drawing (You have to put in the work)

  • ·         No special software or any software is required.

I hope you will join me and allow me to be your professional guide on your art journey.

I initially got the older version of the course from someone, but after seeing some of the videos, I really wanted to get the course for myself, which I did. This course works well for me. I find the instructor to give clear and useful information; all you have to do is practice, and you will get better. I have to say that I have some experience with drawing, and I think that you should start this course with at least some knowledge of linework and basic shapes, maybe even a bit of understanding 3D shapes on paper, but other than that, any beginner that wants to better understand figure drawing should watch this course.

You will get frustrated and confused before getting even close to understanding anything about anatomy, human body proportions or anything else really. And lack of feedback from the teacher only adds to the frustration I wish I could get all my hours spent trying to understand this course and learn something back, but alas. I'm frustrated, angry and now lost because I need to find another course on anatomy and start from the beginning again. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement

I didnt liked it. I wanted to like it, i just couldnt. The teacher seems to teach you in one way and then in the next video he sort of ignores the same rules he just taught you the previous video. It's hard to follow and he sort of drags along the lessons and seems to never get to the point of what he wants you to practice. I dont think i even got to the middle of this course. Just not for me.

In each video, there is an idea that he wants to portray, but it's not delivered as if he had prepared beforehand. If he doesn't want to re-record lessons, then at least edit out what is unnecessary so that the point is made quickly and clearly so that we can do the work and continue on to the next video lesson.

I'm already learning so much and I'm not even halfway through the course yet. I love how simple and concise the instructor is.

I have just started this course after finishing another course taught by Rich. This is a beginner course and I do like the conversational approach to his teaching. I am a retired teacher and Rich takes the time to explain thoroughly the process. Keep in mind this is for the beginner and practice make for good drawings. Well done so far.

Sometimes I can't understand what the teacher wants to say, its long and have no focal. I think some content could be short and unstandable. Reducing unnecessary content will make is course better By the way, this course quite good for beginers And PLEASE, incrase the size of the pointer, sometimes I couldn't see what are instructor doing, just because the pointer is too small

Too long. 38.5 hours to draw only basic geometry and rough sketches? The image cover of the course dont show what you learn. It's misleading

the course was awesome I could never draw without reference now i can draw figures. When I use reference now I can deconstruct and see how the figure is put together instead of blindly copying

I like this course, he is an excellent teacher BUT there are technical problems with the videos.. I will do another rating/feedback once the technical issues are resolved. It must be said that it also happens with other courses..

I find this course more difficult as a complete beginner. He talks as if I know how to draw already. I don't. I took this beginner course for that reason.

After watching 9 hours of the course content and spending at least as long on the homework assignments, I began looking for other courses. I enjoyed the instructor and learned a few useful things, but the pacing is just too slow. All I had learned, after 20+ hours of hard work, is how to draw the upper half of a very simple figure (2 cylinders, a pyramid head, and stick limbs) in 4 positions. No creativity exercises yet at all! Only the exact proportions and positions that he shows you. I will recommend "Character Art School: Complete Character Drawing" by Scott Harris. The lessons are very concise and practical, with CREATIVE challenges and very important general drawing advice. I am only a few hours in, and I am amazed at all of the useful knowledge/skills I have developed. I am hesitant to post this, because it feels wrong to advertise another Udemy course, but I really wish that I had been warned before I wasted so much time here. I would give less stars, but the instructor seems to really care. It's just not what I needed as a student. Thanks for reading, and good luck everyone!

I have a mixed feeling about this course. The content is aiming for real beginners and complies what I searching for. So you will learn the basics about perspective, forms, skeletton and muscles in a very pragmatic manner what is useful for figure drawing. The teacher has a lot of example material and focus on practicing. That part is quit good. Only the presentation of the content I did not like. It is presented as raw content (not/nearly no video editing) where the teacher likes to improvise. That makes the video clips unnecessarily long and chaotic. I think if the teacher brings this 40 hours back to a 10 hours course, the course will be much better to follow.

The course is a good match for me. Rich, the instructor, is doing a really good job. Always clear. I will recommend this course. :)
