The specification uses an open protocol at the application layer. It is especially popular for control applications.

It is a good match but i think there should be a real world setup of the Scanner and Adapter, this way it is easier to visualize the concept right away. Using a Simulator, only as a bonus lesson would add more value to the course. Overall, very good lesson, clear, concise and direct to the point.

This is probably one of the best instructionals I have seen covering the topic of EtherNet IP. I am a Controls Engineer with 10+ years of experience in the field and would strongly recommend this instructional to anyone who wants to get familiar with the EtherNet IP protocol. Corso introduttivo al protocollo Ethernet/IP dal punto di vista dell'utente. Non scende in dettaglio nella descrizione del protocollo, ma mette in grado lo studente di capire come i dispositivi dialogano tra di loro. Mette in grado lo studente di scrivere semplici applicazioni in VisualStudio per comunicare con messaggi impliciti ed espliciti basandosi sulla libreria EEIP.DLL A mio parere un corso ben fatto.

I set out, this morning, just to go a little bit deeper in my knowledge of EtherNet/IP. I had no idea that we would be getting into writing a .NET client to communicate with adapters, nor did I know we'd be getting a lesson on how to use the EtherNET/IP Explorer program (which I had no idea existed).
