What you will learn

Identify various memory blocks due to actual trauma

Understand the relationship between trauma and personality issues

Learn methods for uncovering your memory blocks and freeing your blockages

Integrate your personality to embrace all your experiences

Why take this course?

Learn about the unusual but profound patterns of memory loss that might occur when our minds and emotions cannot cope with or handle an actual trauma. These traumatic episodes can impact on a given personality in a manner that disrupts their own lives as well as those they interact with on a frequent basis. The psychological blocks can extend over either a short or much longer period of time.

Understand the distinct psychological states of: Amnesia, Fugue and Multiple Personality Disorder (referred to in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5-TR as DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder).

In addition to defining and describing the conditions identified above, you will watch a demonstration of a hypnotherapy technique that can help such clients recover their lost memories and restore their mental health. The video will demonstrate how to induce a trance as well as probe the client's past experience.

A number of systematic steps are involved in guiding clients toward a healthy and connected sense of themselves. That is, developing trust with a client, uncovering blocked memories, reliving the trauma in a protected environment and reintegrating the event into one's consciousness. By the conclusion of this course, you will understand the best therapies and techniques for recovering from serious memory blocks and the methods therapists use for merging such fractured personalities into one coherent whole.

I really enjoyed the fact that there a was live hypnosis sessions. It put things into perspective and can actually see what was mentioned in the classroom. I also liked that the lecture was to the point providing important information that gave a better understanding of the material being taught. The exercise was also a great help to understand the topic.

Highly recommended to anyone looking to learn more about issues with memory. Dr. J also covers various techniques that assist people in recovering from such problems. Not only are these videos very educational, they're filled with intriguing information that'll keep you watching video after video. She even demonstrates a hypnotherapy session with a real client! Her lectures are free and can also be accessed from your phone. So convenient!

I think Dr. J did a great job with explaining with examples. The way she demonstrated psychotherapy was not only very professional but also very helpful. Her teaching was very informative so I was able to learn more about amnesia and DID disorders. She gave me a better understanding of the symptoms and which is the best method to treat it. Somethings I learned is that amnesia might need hypnosis treatment also that since people with DID disorders have different personalities, it will take a longer time to treat.

hypnotherapy is a very useful tool that helps an individual to access memories that might otherwise be blocked during a regression was very interesting because this was a true personal story of a preschool child who is now an elder but was struggling with a certain set of emotions plus another personality. Watching Dr. J do hypnotherapy on David was something new and very interesting to watch because it was my first time ever seeing someone being hypnotized. Throughout the lecture I felt, it was pretty easy to understand and catch on to what Dr. J is trying to explain because she took her time to give examples and even showed us two examples of hypnotherapy with two different clients. I think because Dr. J did that it was easier to see how it works. I would totally recommend Dr. J to my fellow classmates and her class because I feel like her class is very interesting and she really gives her students many chances to do well and get the grade they want. I also really liked how towards the end she divided the videos into different sections and topics and although the video was not as long the video still contain the right information and was going at a very good pace. Overall I really enjoy Dr J videos like this, it really helps!

Dr. Stohs did a great job covering the differences between generalized amnesia, selective amnesia, and fugue states. I learned that the treatments for these conditions often fade quickly (within a week). She covered useful therapy such as hypnosis, and how memory regression occurs firsthand through video exposure. She also covered the difference between depersonalization and derealization and their relationship to body and environmental separation. Perhaps the most important thing Dr. Stohs covers are the cues and how to recognize these problems. Highly recommend this course.

I enjoyed getting to watch videos and learning a little background about amnesia and then getting to watch therapy in action. After getting an overview on amnesia and the symptoms, I enjoyed watching the second hypnosis exercise. Also, the second exercise was more engaging.

This course was great because there were real life demonstrations. These give a better understanding of what is going on as well as how therapy is used.

Dr. J was able to break down the different components of DID and the treatments in a digestible way. I learned that this disorder takes a long time to treat given the different personalities a person may have.
