Why take this course?

This course explains all the requirements to perform an air dispersion modeling with AERMOD, the USEPA preferred computer model used to assess and estimate pollutant concentrations and air quality impact caused by air emissions from a variety of sources, such as industrial stacks.

This is your course if you want to take your first steps with the air dispersion model and:

  • You want to learn how to model atmospheric emissions and assess their impact on air quality.

  • You want to carry out environmental consulting in the field of air quality and atmospheric dispersion modeling.

  • You want to learn how to estimate pollutant concentrations in ambient air in a region and know how to define the better position of monitoring stations

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals principles and concepts of air dispersion, this will help you to understand every step needed to model using the AERMOD software package. Every processor needed for this course is free for use during and after the course, and the software package that you will learn how to use includes:

  • AERSURFACE (Version 20060)

  • AERMINUTE (Version 15272)

  • AERMET (Version 19191)

  • AERMAP (Version 18081)

  • BPIPPRIM (Version 04274)

  • AERMOD (Version 19191)

  • QGIS (Version 3.10.4)

Practical training is the core of this course so the lectures focus on practical activities on how to set up and run each one of the processors. Therefore, the main objectives of the course are:

  • Provide a step-by-step walkthrough, in order to familiarize you with the use of each processor, helping you to understand their main features and their outputs.

  • Prepare you with a concise and comprehensive knowledge that will allow you to perform a complete air dispersion modeling with a hands-on, real-world case study.

In the long term perspective, from this course, you get condensed valuable guidance that you can use as a pocketbook to study and review at any moment, helping you during the implementation of an air dispersion modeling or just clarifying any doubts you might have in the future.

In summary, the course presents practical explanations and examples, as well as hands-on exercises for the implementation of Air Dispersion Modeling using AERMOD.

This particular coarse is very difficult to understand because the tutor speech delivery is not up to mark, and lecture is not clear to understand due to his accent.

This was really interesting and I have learned a lot, I love the arrangement of the data files and preparing inputs for the AERMOD. It will be quite interesting to see how this can be executed using MATLAB. I hope what I have learned in this course can be applicable to my country here in Botswana.

Good explaining about the concept or how the parameter and variables used in aermod or air modelling

The fundamentals explanations were good and I want to commend the instructors for a great job. However,I had difficulties accessing the ftp link for aerminute in file explorer because the tutor didn't mention it during the lecture (or probably because the website has changed from the time this course was packaged. I think there should be an update to this effect). I got stuck and went on a wild goose chase trying to figure out what I was doing wrong thereby losing a lot of time in the process. Fortunately, reading through the Q&A where the instructor responded to a similar challenge by another student solved this problem. This is rather avoidable. But, overall, I think I am beginning to get a hang of the course and I hope to be able to get the needed data and to carry out the modelling on my own projects after completing this course. Best wishes.

This course is not what I expected. It's informative only also and not helpful for hands-on. The sound quality is not that convincing. I am unhappy with the course,Please help me

Walked me through all the pre-processors and the actual AERMOD program itself. It's important to note that AERMOD is not really an interactive-via-an-interface software program in the way that most people (myself included) might imagine it, but a series of executable programs run through the command prompt. I learned a lot. Thanks!

Great thus far - the course layout is great giving a good introduction to the main concepts described in simple and terms.

I wanted to learn AERMOD in the software version, not in the command prompt. And this course is not suitable for people living in India.

The course so far has been very good and laid out well. I was not expecting the in-depth overview of air dispersion fundamentals, but it was helpful and I think provided a good background. Also, initially the audio was a little difficult to hear/understand.

So far so good. The accent of the presenter is understandable, but I have to listen very carefully to get every word, especially because some of the words are technical in nature.

I like the fact that basic information was provided first. It was a very good, practical and objective review of the core principles related to air dispersion. Well done!

One of the best courses on Udemy. I had taken classes in university for Air modeling and I had learned less than this 5 hour course. Thank you !

Yes, I will still continue to practicing to create maps via QGIS. I am currently reviewing dispersion modelling exercises for industries in the priority areas in SA.

It is all good explained. The accent should be more clear to understand. I had to use subtitles. I wish that the meteorological and land use data to be available in every country not just in USA. Where I live and work its hard to get all these data to complete the setup. In general it was a good course. I learned a lot of new things about air and meteorology.

I would like a more detailed explanation on the actions done (i.e. what happens if it was done another way, etc)
