How to use effective and well-proven agile techniques to organise and optimise your study.

How to fit self-study around work, family and other commitments - without resorting to 4am study sessions.

How to stay focused, motivated and distraction-free.

How to convert study time into real skills and retained knowledge.

Are you under pressure to stay up to date in a fast-paced industry?

Do you have a desire to gain more knowledge to get ahead in your career or hobby?

Do you want to really get the most out of any precious study time you have?

I know exactly how you feel.

I'm Steve Lydford, the creator of the Agile Self-Learning method. As a completely self-taught software developer with over 20 years of professional experience, I have spent more than two decades of almost constant study to keep up to date and get ahead in an incredibly fast-paced industry.

After a lot of mistakes and wasted effort in the early years, I started to really think about not only what but also how I was learning. This eventually led to me researching, creating and refining the Agile Self-Learning method in order to help keep my own self-directed study stay focussed, organised and efficient.

By the end of this course, you will be able to take the study skills, tools, techniques and strategies that make up this comprehensive study method and apply them to your self-learning to really maximise the quality and effectiveness of your own precious study time to learn what you need to know when you need to know it and, importantly, retain that knowledge.

During the course I'll not only cover the specific practices and learning strategies that combine to make up the Agile Self-Learning method but also take a look at how to:

  • select the perfect study materials

  • minimise different types of distraction

  • deal with problems of motivation and procrastination

  • fit your self-study around work, family and other commitments

  • recognise the three stages of skill acquisition

  • use Kanban to organise your learning and visualise your progress

  • convert study into real skills and retained knowledge

You'll also learn how you can set up the perfect self-study environment wherever you are.

I don't just tell you what to do, I show you how to do it! This course includes examples that show you exactly how I use the Agile Self-Learning method to learn new skills and retain them faster and more effectively than I ever thought possible.

We all lead busy lives with increasing demands on our time which can really impact on our own studies, so I designed this course for any frustrated self-learner who wants to gain new skills and knowledge but struggles to organise, focus and get the most out any valuable study time they have.

I have now completed the course. Thoroughly enjoyed the course and hope to put the ideas into practice to streamline my learning and create a lifelong learning habit. Thank you, Steve Lydford, for the summary at the end showing a typical week for yourself. This is not some miracle course and it will require commitment and determination to see the results but I trust they will come. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been enjoying the course so far. A lot of the topics are things I already know but really good to be reminded and motivated to do them. I enjoyed learning about Kanban (most recent section completed). I have created something similar of my own design for organising and motivating myself for study and work before, it was interesting to see there was a formal method. Looking forward to the rest of the course.

The method of studying presented in this course probably is effective for many people, and the instructor seems to have very thorough knowledge and experience of what he’s talking about. But for myself, I can’t imagine approaching my own studying with the exhausting, joy-sucking rigor of this Agile-based method, which seems much better suited to the production-oriented business environments from which it emerged.

Yes. I'm about to start the 4th segment of video and it is exactly what I need. The information is presented clearly, simply, and effectively. The videos' scripts are finely tuned without extra wording or confusing explanations; everything so far, is said in understandable terms, concisely, and is extremely useful.

This is exactly a topic that interested me before I had heard of this class, and I am glad someone had this idea of applying agile to the learning process and then went to the trouble of organizing those ideas into this video course.

This is helping but also need to know about learning methods but not sure this course is going to give me that yet.

Good insight but the facilitator is a bit too serious, he should add jokes to light the information diseminations.

Brilliant course!!! It allows you to realize what is essential in planning tasks. The methods included in the course can also be used to manage time at work and in private life, not only when learning new things. I am sure that I will use the methods in my daily duties for sure. Thanks!

Great for providing a structure and understanding of how to self study effectively. I have put into practice many of the methods advised and I'm feeling much more motivated!

This is an excellent introduction to Agile Self-Learning. I particularly like the use of Learning Maps to guide self-learning!

This course has helped motivate me to manage my busy day, especially around having four children. Previously not being able to focus on my learning and research, now I can make time work for me. Thanks for making the tools simple, yet user friendly. I've started using some of the techniques at work too.
