Why take this course?

To quickly move up the product management career ladder, you'll need to master two skills: communication and leadership. This advanced course will give you step-by-step advice on how to do just that. In fact, the guidelines covered in each section are applicable to any professional role and may even boost your personal life too.

Split into four parts, the course offers both expert guidance and real world examples. The first section focuses on communication strategies. Excel at Steve Jobs-esque storytelling, get help with public speaking and learn how to deal with colleagues in one-on-one scenarios. The second group of lectures aims to help you become a better leader, whether that's getting to grips with influencing people or figuring out how to elevate your profile within a company.

Next up is career acceleration. This is where you'll hear about all the job opportunities that come from product management and how to climb that ladder as swiftly as possible. Last but not least is people management. You may not be someone's boss right now, but understanding how to manage a team of people is a vital skill for the future.

By the end, you should have a clear idea of what it takes to become a top-rated product manager. And you'll know how to put every tip and trick into action. So whether you want to remain at your current level or move up to a role with more responsibility, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to do so.

Great coverage of topics that illustrate the variety of PM responsibilities and expectations. Still learning stuff. Interesting to watch someone build a slide deck and see another PoV for that.

I was fine with the course until it started spamming me for feedback after each lesson. Each time this happens, I will remove another half star.

Yes it's an excellent match for me! Tons of great advice, I will have to listen to the course a second time :-) . I especially agree that you learn how to become a PM by on the job training and not through a specific course. I like the observation of PMs being autonomous, I've always know this about myself, and was great to actually hear this about the role in general.

The screen went black starting in Session 5. I had to just listen to the presentation. I could put my curser on the progress bar to see a small thumbnail picture. Very Frustrating.

I recently completed this course on Udemy, and it was an incredibly valuable and transformative experience. Covering essential topics for product managers, it significantly enhanced my skills and even led to my recent promotion to Director, Product Management. The course provided key strategies for effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution, which have proven invaluable in my role. I also gained practical tips for captivating presentations and public speaking. The section on leadership stood out, exploring the qualities of exceptional product leaders and offering strategies for motivating teams and achieving product goals. Additionally, the course provided valuable career guidance, helping me identify areas for improvement and providing resources to enhance my skills. Overall, this course has had a profound impact on my career and personal growth. The instructor's expertise and engaging teaching style, combined with the comprehensive curriculum, make it a gem for product management professionals. I highly recommend this course to anyone aspiring to succeed as a product manager or seeking career advancement. Thank you to the instructor and Udemy for this valuable resource.

While there were a few "nuggets" in this course, overall the course needs to be updated. For example, much of the content assumes that the product manager is in the office, when in reality, there is now a lot more work done outside of the office, especially since COVID. For example, how does one lead/manage/communicate when using video? This was not mentioned or acknowledged at all. Also, he uses the word "boss" too much, which has old, outdated implications regarding the relationship the product manager should have with their leadership. At the very least, use the term "manager" instead. The interview was interesting, but too long, and the interviewee looked like he was sitting in a dark room with some odd, distracting lighting that was profoundly inappropriate for an interview. The course is called "Advanced Product Management", however many of the items covered during the course are extremely basic and geared toward entry-level professionals, not just new product managers. As an example, tips like "Be reliable" and "Don't gossip" are not useful and mildly condescending. This course has 1) potential but needs a refresh/update to reflect current practices and challenges; and 2) should be offered to those who are new to the working world instead of to experienced Senior Managers/Associate Directors.

This is getting really good. I see a lot of similarity to PM role in IT and infrastructure. A great comparison.

Good, came away with lots learned. A little overkill on lists as learning, but i think you need something tangible like this to take away. Would have liked some more case studies of other things like roleplay conversations around leading and influencing etc - but overall great, thanks!

I have been exposed to the necessary tools that work places requires. It's so practical to me in the sense that i can recall applying some of them that are nurtured personally as a rules in my first work place after my university degree, and it worked like magic in my team. so, i can attest that these are scientific approaches that have passed the test of time. Thank you Cole!
