What you will learn

Understand the functionality of Spark's four built-in libraries

Create real-world applications using Spark’s libraries

Understand how to develop, debug and optimize the performance of Spark applications

Why take this course?

Apache Spark is an open source data processing engine. Spark is designed to provide fast processing of large datasets, and high performance for a wide range of analytics applications. Unlike MapReduce, Spark enables in-memory cluster computing which greatly improves the speed of iterative algorithms and interactive data mining tasks.

Adastra Academy’s Advanced Apache Spark includes illuminating video lectures, thorough application examples, a guide to install the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment, and quizzes. Through this course, you will learn about Spark’s four built-in libraries - SparkStreaming, DataFrames (SparkSQL), MLlib and GraphX - and how to develop, build, tune, and debug Spark applications. The course exercises will enable you to become proficient at creating fully functional real-world applications using the Apache Spark libraries. Unlike other courses, we give you the guided and ground-up approach to learning Spark that you need in order to become an expert.

The course seems a bit old. Using netbeans as IDE is not ideal. Also since we are using scala, it may be desirable to use sbt.

I can buy a text book and read it just as well. When you teach, you have to break down the concept and explain them clearly. An advance course should discuss the 'Why' component in the teaching.

- For twitter task I had a problem with the proxy and security policy of the company... - Without English subtitles... - Small space for your own mind

in an advanced course, you don't need to waste 5 lectures on essential setup problems for spark and IDE's... that seems just time wasting and to make the course look intensive, but actually it is there just to fit more subjects in the course!

It is very abstract, and I think having more slide with more graphics and actual examples can clarify the content more

This is a great course on advanced analytics in Spark and offers a thorough description of some of the fundamental Spark libraries. Some of the quiz material can be quite challenging but there is a lot of hands-on activities that give an abundance of information.

This course when paired with their beginner Spark course gives you an excellent understanding how Apache Spark works and how you can use it's libraries. The information was presented in a clear way and the exercises gave valuable hands on experience. The instructor is knowledgeable and speaks clearly

As a beginner I recommend starting with Introduction for Apache Spark from Adastra academy as this course will be a continuation of the topics covered in it. Voice in the lectures is correctly paced and easy to understand, Topics in the course are explained clearly with a lot of detailing to the scripting part and with right combination of lectures, hands on exercises and quizzes
