Description

Are you interested in learning about 'Acceptance and Commitment Therapy'?

Perhaps you have heard that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a very effective tool for treating depression, anxiety, and many other psychological disorders. Did you know that ACT is also a great tool for managing our own thoughts and behaviours, improving our emotions and moods on daily basis?

In this course you will take 34 informative lectures taught by UK Research Psychologist and international lecturer on Psychology & Counselling - Elmira Strange, MPhil. In this course you will find out about many interesting ACT aspects (such as 'Acceptance' and 'Identifying Your Values') that you will be able to use for yourself and when working with other people.

In this course you will learn for example, what ‘Psychological Flexibility’ is and why you have to develop this skill if you want to feel more satisfied with your life. You will also learn how to practice 'Mindfulness' and 'Acceptance' in your daily life so that your cognitive state became more balanced over time. You will also find out why 'chasing happiness' is not such a good idea after all and what you can do about it.

You will also understand how to use 'metaphors' for managing your own thoughts and emotions so that you could regain control of what you think and how you feel on daily basis.

At the end of the course you will have access to 2 BONUS Lectures: "Stress & Anxiety Management" and "Psychology of Alcohol and Drug Addictions"

P.S. This course is now fully accredited by the IAOTH - International Association of Therapists!

P.P.S. At the end of the course you will see the instructions on how to obtain your certificate of completion.

I believe the instructor could improve their skills as a speaker. Much of the content appears to be sourced from public domain resources which a cursory Google search would yield (e.g. Wikipedia, Psychology Today). I believe more clinical examples/case studies would enrich the content.

I try not to have expectations when undertaking learning (or generally for that matter!), I like to keep an open mind. So far this course is well paced and the presenter has a pleasant demeanour. I am looking forward to moving forward with the videos and other resources.

Too monotone, Need to be more enthusiastic or something about your topic. If I wasn’t so interested in learning about ACT I wouldn’t still be here. You clearly know what your talking about, I just need someone who helps to keep the audience engaged.

This is an excellent match for me. As a new therapist, I've learned a specific modality which is Brainspotting but I wanted to understand other modalities my colleagues or patients might talk about. These lectures have made it easy to understand. Thank you.

As a school psychologist for more than several decades, I never used the term "eclectic" to characterize. my approach in working effectively with students of age levels. Rather I continually implement my school based interventions under a general theoretical umbrella of practices so as to add cohesion to my counseling based underpinnings. Your presentation is of quality and ACT conceptual premises does have particular relevance for my personal long held operational belief system associated with the Self Determination Theory. Much appreciated.

There is incredible information to use personally and with your clients. Many tools are provided, including some used by our teacher. Elmira's knowledge of the science of psychology and her genuine and warm approach to teaching keeps me coming back for more; I have completed more than ten of Elmira's classes thus far. I am now using several of the ACT tools and enjoying the process. On to the next class! Keep it going Elmira; your students are paying attention.

Exhaustingly repetitive and long. Confusion in definitions. Terrible explanations, I don't believe this teacher is experienced in teaching or in therapy. Maybe interesting for someone who has no basic concept of Psychology, but then better for them to get a clear idea instead of this dialectic dance of confused concepts.

The instruction has been very helpful and easy to follow. I enjoy the pictures in the presentation and instructors way of breaking the information down to laymen terms and not just a whole bunch of difficult psychology jargon that can be confusing at times. The lecture entails very good information that I have put into my own words to aid me when I begin my wellness practice. Already, I am beginning to formulate in my mind how the counseling sessions are going to go utilizing the principles of ACT. Thank you.
