This course is patterned after the format of the American Sailing Association's learn to sail programs. It does not take the place of an ASA instructor or on-the-water practice and experience. However it contains a body of essential knowledge to advance your skills and seamanship.

This course is over two hours of content – utilizing over 250 colorful pictures, graphics, narrations and tips to add to your experience of having “been there done that" (before you ever face the situation on the water for the first time). The content is divided into six modules: Poiints of Sail; Terminology (SailorSpeak); Rules of the Road; Basic Navigation; Knots to Know; and Required/Good to Know. Supplemental content covers several topics in detail… all essential foundational knowledge to keep you safe in a sailboat during day in light to moderate sea conditions and winds.

This course is a great way to study for the test. My book Sailing Made Easy (ASA Textbook 101) by the American Sailing Association is well written but conteined too much information. This course is concise and down to the point of what I need to know to pass the test. It's also very helpful because of the visual component. The price is also reasonable. Thank you !

So clear and helpful. As a novice, this is about repetition of understandable, but complex information. The program is understandable because it is slow and clear. Letting me repeat and refresh helps it sink in and builds confidence!

The guy teaching/reading the stuff to you does not explain what the wording are/means so you are lost the whole time that he is reading to you. I could/shoud have used the money i spent on this course to buy a book and just read it myself as I would have learned more and a book would have explained things better.

The monotone voice is dry, and the closed captioning has words incorrect, and they cover many of the diagrams. It would be nice if we could turn off the closed captioning altogether. The content is good however.

Great learning material. I would suggest maybe removing the water sound between chapters. Gets a little annoying after a while :-)

Before I purchased the 4 courses I was led to believe I could watch them on any device. I can not. This, the device that I purchased them on is the only one I am able to download them on. Secondly, the reason I purchased them is that at this time I am having a problem with my sight which keeps me from reading my ASA course books for my upcoming tests in March. I was hoping that that the small window showing what the lecture is about would be larger. I was also hoping that I could download them onto my phone and listen to them in my car but as I mentioned before that doesn't work. Nor does it work on my other computer. Since writing the above, I was sent an additional welcome to Udemy with a place to change my sign in. Things are much better now. I have been able to finish 101 on two different devices. I would however have liked to been able to take a practice test or two along the way.

A bit slow. Had to change playback speed to make it watchable. Also can be a bit rambling. But it generally gets the job done
