Understand how to build sprites, add VFX, and work with physics

Learn debugging and working with Git for version control

Why take this course?

Advanced Game Mechanics in Unity helps users push their Unity knowledge to the next level. In this course, instructor Alan Thorn explores many powerful features in Unity 5, from debugging tools and version control, to 2D sprites and User Interfaces. See how to get started quickly at scripting useful behaviours and functionality for building solid games across many platforms, from endless-runners to shooters.

Part 1 consolidates scripting knowledge, exploring fundamental scripting tasks in Unity, developing a solid foundation for your games, whatever the genre. In part 2, learn how to build resolution-adapting interfaces for multiple screen-sizes, and see how to integrate 2D and 3D elements in a single scene, using the GUI features and sprite framework. In part 3, explore how to find and diagnose problems in your applications using MonoDevelop Debugging, as well as Visual Debugging. In part 4, learn how to manage team work-flows with Git and version control, allowing many people in a team to exchange and maintain source code easily anywhere in the world. Finally, in Part 5 we explore a range of more advanced scripting tasks: see how to combine particle systems with physics, see how to develop save game states, how to make objects survive across multiple scenes, and how to develop for mobile devices, reading input from the accelerometer.

Overall, Advanced Game Mechanics in Unity features everything you need to become a powerful game developer quickly and easily - producing immersive games that sell!

it's must be updated urgently! I expected more and more mechanics tactics but this is higly old and outdated.

I'm only a few videos in and I have to say I really like this course so far, because the instructor actually takes the time to explain working with Unity in more depth than most instructors. I mean, I've taken several Unity courses on Udemy, and viewed many on YouTube, and so many of them just breeze over key concepts to understanding Unity. They don't really go into depth. For instance, I was happy with getting a much better explanation about accessing components in Unity, which is usually described as "Okay, just type this into your script editor guys, and this just works", while this instructor actually explains what you're doing. Fantastic so far, I can already see that I'm learning a lot better with this guy teaching. I am glad I enrolled.

I've been using Unity and MonoDevelop for well over a year, and I've already been taught something new.

Good training, I would suggest to add new section regarding Git LFS in your repo section. Also, a big part of unity is to make animations. A new section regarding animator, states, animations perhaps. Good job!

Great course that focuses on other things, than all other 'How to build a game' courses. You get some really useful and interesting information in this course.

I've fully completed many courses on Unity, including most of the videos on their website. This course taught many unique things that I have not found elsewhere. The presentation was also quite good.

It's Intermediate level ? seriously? until now they are completely out of context and just for begginers!

I think that the explanations are very redundant. There could be a bit more information if the instructor didn't repeat what he just said or went on to explain the obvious parts. On the plus side, if any of these subjects are obscure to you, the explanations will be sufficient to understand once and for all.

Wow , I can already say it contains practical information you simply would not find freely on the internet, plus high quality lecturing.

This is an excellent course, with thoroughly explained concepts. The instruction is at a really good pace, also. This is definitely among the top unity courses i've taken here on UDEMY!

Pretty awesome course. I found the debugging and git videos really helpful. There did seem to be some videos near that end that I thought didn't really fall inline with the rest of the course. For example moving along a sin path. I guess that would be useful if you needed such. But it seemed so specific and uncommon that it just felt out of place. I still would highly recommend this video as well as the others posted here from the same author.

The instructor explains most of the codes very well, even tho the course is for advanced C# user, which is a plus in my eyes. Also the amount of useful knowledge for creating games I got from this course is intense. It was definitely worth the money, heck, I'd even paid more than that. I can totally recommend it! Things I kind of missed in this course: -Challenges

This is my fourth course from this instructor and I feel he does a great job with his lectures and is very knowledgeable. For this course though, I found the content was OK, but not great. Maybe I was just expecting something different, or maybe the course name is a bit misleading... good information, so not a total waste of time, but I felt it was light on actual game mechanics.
