I am very thankful that you did this tutorial because there aren't a lot of tutorials online for 3d coat. The youtube videos from 3D coat isn't well archived. It's all spaced all over the place. I've been interested in having 3D coat part of my pipeline for a while now. With your help, I believe I can't finally get this done. Thank you and please, if you can, make more Tutorials!!!

Some the credit I guess goes to 3D Coat itself--it's looking amazing--but how would I ever get started without this kind of good instruction?

The volume could be a little louder when he talks I think there needs to be a little more organization in the way he teaches He answers your questions I know more about 3d coat in how the program works. You can understand what he brings to the table. Over all , A great course for who ever wants to learn about 3d Coat.

Could probably use a bit more editing, but I found some of the modeling and painting mistakes enlightening. All in all a good introduction to 3D Coat.

Le professeur explique vraiment très bien ce qu'il fait et ainsi on découvre pas à pas les outils et fonctions du logiciel !

While I was At times frustrated because the author didn't handle things the way I would have, I learned a great deal from watching these tutorials. He made sense out of a lot that had been unclear to me from watching the rather random tutorials from 3D Coat, and presented a lot of useful features and techniques that I had not been aware of before.

I learned a lot of useful sculpting techniques and hotkeys in 3d coat. This is definitely the push I needed to get me into organic modeling. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/257539890604933121/319072096187711489/28.JPG

He covered a lot but, like some other comments made, it's less about teaching you about the tool and more about watching him create the model... it depends on what you're looking for

Very little instruction. No polish to the videos. The instructor is elated at 3D-Coat, but the number of issues he encounters makes him look like an amateur. I could do the same thing in ZBrush in a fraction of the time, and that's not what I'm looking for when looking for 3D-Coat instruction. He seems like a nice guy, but this isn't the precision tutorial I was looking for.

Nice 3D Coat starting point. A lot of topics covered in more "on the go" than prepared process, so it was interesting to watch as problems occure and few or more ways to solving them.

Spent too much time undoing due to wrong layers, settings, etc. Could have better spent the time calling out tool locations and navigation tips. I know some people prefer watching tutorials that include the subjective decision process, because it is more "real". I prefer the lesson to be a bit more prepared and cover more ground in a clear manner.

There are a lot of useful details presented, but they are often present in random fashion. Though the creation of a character is presented as a vehicle for learning, the activities are really not gauged for step-by-step completion, because the instructor is making real-time decisions about how they want to proceed, and often changes the direction of their design. More productive learning could take place if lessons were shorter, focused on specific tools and techniques, with smaller models. The instructor has a goal of illustrating how real problems arise and how they can be addressed, but these problems and solutions could have been presented without the extended viewing of the instructor's modelling work on a single model. I think this would be a great course if smaller models were targeted for learning tools and workflow. If different tools are better for some jobs than others, then other smaller assignments could be brought in help compare and contrast their use. I would have preferred to follow a workflow for a simple creation from start-to-end, with subsequent lessons following this same pattern, but perhaps adding a bit more complexity and/or focusing on additional tools. Unproductive lapses are even admitted by the instructor, resulting in them time-lapsing their modelling on camera, or working on the model off camera in preparation for the next lesson. So, though I have a better idea of what 3D Coat has to offer, I don't feel I've been given a means to productively learn its tools and confidently follow a good workflow to complete a project. In other course with similar subject matter, their instructor(s) broke lessons down to focus on a subset of tools, with an assignment to complete a specific task, and encouraged users to complete and share their completed works. This kind of structure is not followed in this course, so I think important details are touched on, but lost, and I wasn't provided a chance to gain hands-on-experience with the 3D Coat tools in a way that reinforced details and to develop confidence in working in its key tool sets. Near the end of the course, I simply sped up the videos, to get through the noise and find the piece of information that was intended to be the focus of the specific lesson. This course could be a very good course with better structure, focus, and smaller practical assignments. And, this more productive format could still provide a means to present real design/tool issues, and solutions to those.

The instructor is clearly familiar with the software and details the use and function of many of the tools. For those looking to get started in 3D coat, this is a good course to take. His tempo and speed during instruction is perfect. I wish more instructors would follow his example in that regard. That said I was unimpressed by the clear lack of knowledge of proper re-topology for a game res mesh. Proper topology, UV layout, and packing of UVs are the very foundation of making a game ready mesh. It was frustrating to see these things done in such a way as to say "..meh, good enough... kinda." The title of the course does not lie ..you do learn how to get the job done. Though, I expected a more professional job considering the instructors years of experience in the industry and that he is himself a teacher. The reotpo during the course was done in a very round about "duct tape and chewing gum" kind of way - swapping pieces and parts from different automated and manual attempts (which is very odd considering 3D coat arguably has the best re-topology tools in the industry). In the end auto mapping was used for UVing the demo mesh.. as was clear by the sad state of the UVs and their layout which you see during his painting process. Personally I scour the internet and pay for courses like this in order to find the correct way to get things done - the end goal being to get a job working in the industry. When instructors skip over the important bits and just do the bare minimum to "get the job done", its very frustrating.. especially when you pay for the instruction! I don't expect everyone that makes a course video like this to have mastered these things but, I do expect that they make a solid attempt. When in doubt one can always refer to the wealth of knowledge available on sites like Polycount. (..also, he openly admits pilfering the reference art from the internet right at the start of the course, making no effort to credit the original artist. Really?? 1. Find concept art 2. request permission to use it in the demo 3. credit the artist -or- use your own artwork. Please endeavor to set a good example in order to ensure more concept artists also get credit and exposure for their work.

I like the material and I appreciate the general knowledge of the teacher. However, I think that the course should be a little better edited, sparing the viewer of many round trips to "repairing" things. Personally, I find frustrating to be following the video trustfully, to discover at certain point, that it was a wrong detour! But letting this aside, it is a good material to start the program. I recommend!
