Why take this course?

Welcome to the world of 3D printing. In this 3D printing course we’ll be going over the basics of the 3D printing world. This course is designed for beginners to gain an understanding of how a 3D printer works, and the process of going from a blank 3D design canvas, to a full physical print out.

Buying your first 3D printer is a big investment and it’s a good idea to really learn what you’re getting in to. It would be smart to first find out how the entire process works before you make a purchase. Like how it goes from a digital file to a full physical object. There are a lot of factors to consider before buying your printer, so it would also be a smart idea to get recommendations on which printer to buy, as well as the software that goes with it. This course gives recommendations on both.

If you’ve already purchased your 3D printer, that’s great! This course is also for you! 3D Printing for Beginners teaches you the basics that you need to know before you start your prints. As you might know by now, it’s more than just downloading a file and selecting “print.” This course will talk about the basic settings that make up the majority of the printing process. 3D Printing for Beginners will take you on a journey through the entire 3D printing process—from designing your own 3D model in a 3D design software, to then preparing it to print it in the “slicing” software, and finally printing the object. This course will show you step by step from start to finish how the entire 3D printing process works. It might seem overwhelming, but it’s actually incredibly simple and easy to do.

I haven't so far found anything really helpful. I great example is building a snowman, just watching someone build this snowman without much explanation on how the program works is pretty much a waste of time. Tinkercad does a much better job of teaching it and its also free. I just started the slicing overview so we will see how this goes, bit to would have been much better to use Cura, the free software so one could follow along without having to spend a $150.00, already has to buy the course. Somewhat regretful, but I will try to keep an open mind and hope it gets better.

As a newcomer to the world of FDM printing, this course was a great starting point. It is concise and has great instructions for following along with the lectures and exercises. Most of the information contained in the learning program is available for free online but this requires trawling through the internet and a lot of trial and error, so to have all the necessary information in one place and a guide to walk you through your first steps is beneficial. The world of FDM printing will take you down a very deep rabbit hole so this is a great starting point. The introduction to TinkerCAD is a nice touch and leads to some satisfaction once you successfully create your own printed model from scratch.

I understand which basic skills are needed in Tinkercad in order to make the object. Also, it's important to view the layers in the slicing software before printing.

I did learn from this course but the instructor should have learned to use the CAD program before trying to teach it. Otherwise the things he showed in his video were great. I am going to look into other 3D printing courses here. Thanks.

This is solid instruction for young printers. For adults it is a bit too "grammar school". The selection was mine so I made a questionable choice. I like the instructor's delivery and I think there is most definitely a niche for this course.

The instructor is correct that this is for beginners. I would not recommend it for engineers, or those that have CAD experience. However, I did like the insight into the Simplify3D interface.

a general info course on 3d printing and how to use tinkercad to actually 3d print an object, pretty cool. I initially gave it only 2 stars because It could have been more informative but moving to 3 1/2 stars because it did give a good end to end break down

I'm a new to 3D printing and just from basic research looking for a printer I came across everything that was covered. When going over the software, there was a lot of hunting for what was needed. Just not real familiar with the software.

i was expecting a more professional course. Information on this course are not very specific as you can find easily almost all the same on Youtube.

I feel like this class was incomplete and too basic. I could get all the information he gave by doing a google search for 3D printing. I feel like a 3d printing for beginners should have more content about how the machine works, what the limitations are for 3D printing, and also going into different filaments, what things can go wrong and how to troubleshoot things. Also, it would be nice if they could talk about the difference between different types of printers. But that being said the instructor does do a good job at covering what he did cover. There were some audio issues but nothing too bad

Pros: Good overview of the basics and easily understood. Cons: Could stand to verify his examples prior to making the video. Limited introduction into one type of 3d printing, I'd like to have a basic overview of the different types (SLA, ABS, PLA) and their different properties.

Short but very nice course on how to get started with 3D Printers. Just enough overall detail about printing to wet the appetite. Easy pace and knowledgeable instructor.
