What you will learn

3D modeling in Blender 2.8

Simple low-poly props

Tools, Shortcuts, Tips & Tricks

Description

In this course, students will learn the basic core components of building 3D models using Blender 2.8 and Unity 2018.2. The lessons contained within the course allow the student to gradually learn important tools used for everyday modeling, while providing simple objects to practice on which give the tools more meaning through practical hands on experience.

As the course progresses, you'll be introduced to new tools, and then given the task of creating a simple prop that makes use of the new information you have acquired while continuing to reinforce previously learned material all along the journey.

By the end of this course, you should be able to construct basic 3D props for your Unity Prototype Games. With enough practice and experience, you'll be well on your way to publishing your first game.

This is very informative. Though getting to the point could be sooner for a better reach at intermediate users without dropping newer/beginner users. The Custom Startup could have been culled to about 5 minutes. And General navigation needs to be trimmed in some way down to about 8. When in the beginning you talked about not having redundancies you should continue with that throughout the lecture to not bore people since this is a recording and people can go back over something they missed or didn't understand. Take advantage of that.

Without a doubt this is the best blender course I have tried. There are other amazing ones out there but this does it all right. There is no jabbering on but still enough explanation to understand what's going on perfectly. Each video is bite sized and to the point without any waffle and droaning. Above all there isn't the annoying trope of doing it X way for 5 videos, then being shown the "quicker and better" way to do it. Every new tool and method shown is the proper way. Definitely the best teacher I have found on here.

I have been working in Blender for almost 10 years. And I was still learning something in almost every video.

The pace is perfect - not too fast, not too slow. Billy provides a wealth of tips and tricks in each lecture and takes the time to clearly articulate the how and why with multiple options, but does so in an efficient manner. He is well-spoken, and his method of teaching by providing practical, hands-on demonstration is immediately useful. Great course!

Very well done tutorial. I don't have an english high level but I've been able to follow it perfectly. Very well explained.

I just finished the entire course, I know how to use blender but I wanted to learn how to make game assets, it was a good practice for me, learned a few new tricks, I think it would be nice if teacher made a section where you create a scene in Unity with the assets. Overall It was a good course, I recommend it.

Very detailed and fairly easy to follow. Liked how we used the key combinations over and over for each project until they are now locked into my mind. Really enjoyed making the 3D objects and this instructor.

I've been playing with Blender for a long time, but never really got into it. I think that this course will help motivate me into production, help me to learn how to make a few thing to spark my imagination, and be fun, fun while learning that sounds great! The instructor seems to know (30 years experience) what he's doing and is very good at teaching, especially those little details often overlooked, but also has challenges to let you "play around with what you learned in the lecture" hands on learning by actually spending some time with the program and using it to start forming those neuropathways (intuitive) for the controls that you will need without having to constantly look them up.

Billy was such a good instructor, that I immediately bought his next course. Clear teaching style and voice, enough repetition with the key bindings so a noob like me can keep up, and quick answers to your questions. A thousand thanks!

This has been a great introduction to modeling game assets in Blender for Unity. I am somewhat of a beginner to 3D modeling and brand new to Blender and I have been able to follow along with the whole course just fine. The instructor goes over many different techniques for modeling both hard surface and organic objects and some best practices for creating the models specifically for Unity. I highly recommend this course.

Billy this is amazing, I am learning blender for 3 months now, already knew many things but you pointed out so many useful things, little tricks that I missed in my learning and you made everything so logic by your slow and deep explainig. You are a great teacher, keep up!! I will definately buy more of your courses:)

The author has a good pace and he uses a clear and concise language. I appreciated his honesty when he was dealing with the topic of rocks. Definitely worth watching.

Excellent author. The pace is perfect, and he introduces new techniques and tools at just the right time. There are plenty of points to play around yourself to cement the skills you've just learned.

This course is the perfect introductory course for Blender 2.8. Follow along with a few well-organized lessons that will teach you an increasing number of tools and routines while building the kind of game props that as a developer you will need to know how to create. Very manageable learning curve, clear structure, and a highly responsive instructor make this course as educational as it is fun. If you want to go deeper into some of the subject broached in this course, Billy's other courses come highly recommended as well. In particular the one on UV-Unwrapping.

Another excellent course from this instructor that will give you a solid grounding in the basics of Blender 2.8 modelling covering many of the new features in 2.8 as well as using capabilities of previous versions. If you are completely new to version 2.8 I would recommend taking it with his other 2.8 course, which is more concerned with mastering the Blender 2.8 navigation and the interface. This course covers building a few low poly objects but spends a good deal of time on each one introducing several modelling techniques with each object. He takes you carefully through each build and I found it possible to follow along quite easily, there is also some possibility for modifying the build to create your own variants of the objects. There is also a final section on a few miscellaneous topics including exporting objects to Unity. If possible I would like to see a couple more builds of further objects being added to the course to add just a little more variety to types of objects, but the course is fairly complete as it stands. It should be said that Blender 2.8 is still in Beta development, so it may be necessary to amend some parts of the course in the future, as there is a possibility of some of the current Blender features being modified before the final release, but i think that any changes will be relatively minor so would not let that discourage anybody from taking this course if they want to get to grips with the 2.8 version now.
