Why take this course?

In this course you will learn everything you need to know to rig a 3D character in Cinema 4D using the Character Object. I'm going to cover everything, from the very basics, all the way to the more advanced stuff.

We will start by learning about the great importance of character symmetry and character optimization. And you will learn how to properly optimize your characters before rigging them.

Then, we will create the base rig using the Character Object. We will create the full skeleton including the spline, legs, arms, fingers, head and eyes. And to make the rig more useful, it will have both IK and FK controllers which we will be able to switch with just one button.

After that, you will learn how to adjust the Character Object, so the skeleton fits the character mesh. Then, we will bind the Character Rig and the character mesh together. Later, you will learn different techniques to properly weight your character. And, as a bonus, we will pose the character in a very dynamic running pose.

Those are the main topics we will cover, but you will also learn how to work with the Cloth Surface Object when rigging a character. How to properly use the Weight Tool. You will also learn the basics of normalization and auto-normalization in Cinema 4D. And of course, you will also learn about Inverse Kinematics (IK) and Forward Kinematics (FK).

This course is packed with lots of valuable information that you'll be able to apply in any character rigging project you work in the future.

By the end of this course you will have a clear understanding of how the 3D character rigging process works in Cinema 4D, and you will also be able to create your own rigs for your own characters.

So, get ready to learn a lot, and I'll see you inside.

Overall this course is an ok introduction to the topic for people without experience wanting to see quick results. However much of the course is working with templates or auto-weighting and controller adjustment. Also the general information about controllers would be useful right from the beginning. The course is at very slow pace.. good to follow along but unfortunately very repetetive. A lot of things could be explained in way more efficent ways. Also.. half of the course is about locking/unlocking the different joints manually, which takes a lot of time. I skipped quite some minutes and didn't feel I missed much information.

Very detailed, for me it's a bit too detailed and slow. This is not a masterclass, but it will give you a strong knowledge about the basics for rigging and animating a character. (You don't need to talk about how to navigate and how to use the UI and so much basic stuffs in C4D if this is a masterclass.) Generally it was good!

I have only watched a few u-tube tutorials on rigging and not done a full course. This course is very detailed and explains process of rigging very clearly. I am practising after class and so far everything is working well. So this course will be good for me.

The course is good fore somebody looking for some really quick rigging methods in C4D. The author uses automatic rigging methods and nearly the whole course is about adjusting of the rig to his character mesh. The most of the course is about painting weights. 3 lessons about moving the controls, so that they are better visible. With explanation of some concepts on the way. But, what I was really missing, were some profound skills to rig the character from scratch in C4D, this means manually create the joints, controllers and constraints. Not a single word about it. I still do not now how to set parameters to a single joint, fo example maximum and minimum rotation. Now I need to look for this somewhere else.

If you really want to learn how to rig your models in C4D, this is the perfect course. It is very detailed and in-depth (it is 8-hour course for a single topic after all).
