Why take this course?

In this course we will go through the process of creating your own 2-D storybook-style "Point and Click" Adventure Game, including story, game world and character design, creating your own art assets in manipulable layers, animating your character, bone-rigging your 2D character in multiple angles for quick animating of an 8-pose walk-cycle.  We will also cover practices for creating original music for your game, voice acting and recording dialogue for your characters, and finally bringing all of your original assets together and programming them into a functional scene for an adventure game (in an artist-friendly programming environment).

You can follow along using the same software titles in the course, or apply the concepts learned to your own music and art creation software choices.

The software used in the course will be...

Adobe Photoshop: for background art and character creation.

Moho Studio Pro: for character animation.

Logic Pro X: for music and voice recording/ editing.

Adventure Creator Game Toolkit for the Unity Game Engine for bringing all of the game assets together and programming your game!  (Don't worry, you can program your entire game without needed to type out a single line of code, it is very artist friendly).

Additional Topics Covered:

Light music and art theory

Brief history of instrument sampling

Discussing effective hardware and software tools

Need to mention that just like books and film, games also benefit from having many characters having character arcs in the game.

Isaac does a really great job with this course! He takes you through the step by step process of the artwork, gives some useful tips about level design, recommended tools and devices, and goes over audio in an engaging way. I especially loved the voice acting part, he's so good at it! Definitely recommend this course to whoever wants to make a game in this genre.

I admire this guy from Youtube and I'm loving having a companion on my desperately lonely path of making my own adventure game. He really knows his stuff - phenomenally talented, yet easy going in his delivery.

I wouldn't mind giving this course 10 stars/ 5 stars, unfortunately I can't. The course is the most comprehensive experience of Adventure Game Creation. It does not compromise on quality, sometimes going so deep into things, that you might feel ashamed for not paying more for the course. Great Job Isaac!

Fantastic! I'm just through the first to videos and I'm blown away! He seems to be an awesome and very enthusiastic teacher who really loves what he does! Besides this is the first game development course I found which includes content about creating a good story for your game and develop your character!

Excellent course, I found the wide subject matter incredibly useful. Having music composition and DAWs as well as microphones and voice acting explained were really useful parts of this course. Great stuff.

I haven't finished this course yet even though I've had it for a while. It's a monster of a course and seems to cover every aspect. I enjoy the instructor's way of speaking and teaching so far. You get a lot of value for money, starting with how to come up with your story, character design, animation, designing and painting the backgrounds, and even how to make your own music.

Great Course, Clear lessons, not super technical so inviting to newbs such as myself. On a side note: Udemy asks this question way to early in any course - should happen after second quiz or so...

Instructor goes through developmental example of game building, using Adventure Creator in Unity. From hand drawing the scenes to putting it together with voice and game music.

The course was excellent, I did the free tutorials from Ice Box, but this really helped fill in the gaps. I was already experienced in Anime Studio Pro, but always had issues with walk cycles, this helped. He really does go into depth about mixing your own music, however having almost zero musical skills... Well, I did my best. Voice acting, etc. was mostly review for me, though he does have his own system for organization and if you are new it gives you a good framework to work with.

Bought this course mainly for the Adventure Creator section and it turned out to be very frustrating for me. There are many times just in the first 20 minutes when the instructor makes mistakes and simply doesn't know exactly what some settings in the program will do. I know mistakes can be used for learning but this seems to be more of a case where he didn't practice it to get out all of the kinks beforehand. Instead of giving an overview of what Adventure Creator can accomplish, he jumps in and uses examples only pertinent to the game he is creating. This course is specifically focused on 2D adventure gaming and I'm aware of that but I was hoping for more of a tutorial encompassing the things the program is capable of overall. I thought this would be more comprehensive than the official tutorials but I was wrong. I'm sure a lot of people will get great use out of this course but, unfortunately, it's not what I thought it would be and I'll be moving back to the official tutorials.

Teacher knows the tools and has the experience, but most importantly, he knows how to teach. Adventure creator doesn't have a very friendly learning curve, but he makes everything much more clearer than the official tutorial. He explains not only the basics, but the advanced features everyone wants to have on their games. Very satisfied.

I really like how he is going in-depth for aspects beyond just how the mechanics work. It's not just how to use Adventure Creator but how to make a great adventure game and all the aspects of it.
